Munroe Falls lots are small. The maples on them are not.

Older streets and tight lots

Most of Munroe Falls was built out in the decades after the war, on modest lots along and off Main Street. The shade trees planted then, many of them silver maples, are now large, and they hang over roofs, garages and driveways on lots that don't leave much room to work. Utility lines often run through the canopy.

That makes clearance and weight reduction a big part of our Munroe Falls work: keeping limbs off roofs and away from service lines, lifting branches over drives and walks and reducing heavy limbs that have grown out over the house. When a maple has reached the point where pruning won't make it safe, we'll talk about removal honestly.

Riverfront and floodplain trees

The Cuyahoga River runs right through Munroe Falls, and Munroe Falls Metro Park follows it. Properties near the river have floodplain trees: sycamores, cottonwoods, silver maples and box elders that grow fast in wet ground. They're valuable for shade and for holding the riverbank together, but they're also prone to large limb drops and storm damage.

Riverbank trees need a different approach. Removing a tree and grinding its stump on a bank can loosen soil and speed erosion, so we often leave the stump and roots in place. Pruning and selective removal near the house, while keeping the bank's root network intact, is usually the right balance.

Close to everything

Munroe Falls sits between Stow, Kent, Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Falls, a few minutes from our Kent base. That makes it easy for Tyler to stop by for an estimate, and easy to fit Munroe Falls work into the schedule quickly when something needs attention.

Being small also means a lot of shared trees. Big maples on property lines, limbs crossing fences and roots under the neighbor's driveway are common. We can work with both neighbors on a shared tree and give each a clear picture of what's being done and why.
