Know the Signs
When does a tree need to come down?
Not every problem tree needs to be removed — but some absolutely do. These are the warning signs Tyler looks for during an assessment. If you're seeing any of these, call sooner rather than later.
Dead or Dying Branches
Large sections of bare, brittle, or dropping branches signal internal decline. A dead tree doesn't fall on a schedule — it falls when conditions are right.
Leaning Toward Structures
A tree that has shifted its lean — especially toward your house, fence, or power lines — is a liability. The root system may already be compromised.
Fungal Growth at the Base
Mushrooms or shelf fungus growing from the trunk or roots is a sign of internal rot. The tree may look fine from the outside but be structurally hollow inside.
Storm or Lightning Damage
A tree that's been struck by lightning or split in a storm has lost structural integrity even if it's still standing. These don't improve on their own.
Root Damage or Heaving
Cracked soil, raised ground, or exposed roots near the base indicate the anchor system is failing. This is one of the most serious signs.
Severe Pest or Disease Damage
Emerald Ash Borer, Oak Wilt, and similar threats can kill a tree faster than most homeowners realize. Once past a certain point, removal is the only safe option.
How We Do It
Every removal is different
Standard Removal
The tree is felled in sections or as a whole, depending on the space available. Our crew manages the drop carefully and chips or hauls all debris.
Technical Crane Removal
Trees near structures, fences, or utility lines that can't be felled safely are removed piece by piece using rigging systems. Every section is controlled on the way down.
Emergency Removal
Storm damage, fallen limbs on structures, or immediate hazards. TG-TreeCare responds quickly to urgent situations — call (330) 221-1617 directly.
Stump Grinding Add-On
Removal leaves the stump. If you want the stump gone too, we can bundle stump grinding with the removal or schedule it separately — just ask Tyler.

Common Questions
Tree Removal FAQs
How much does tree removal cost in Kent, Ohio?
It depends on tree size, location, and complexity. TG-TreeCare provides free on-site estimates — you'll know the exact price before anything starts.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Kent, OH?
Some municipalities in Portage and Summit counties require permits for larger trees. Tyler can advise you on this during the estimate visit.
Can you remove a tree close to my house?
Yes. We handle tight-space removals regularly — near foundations, fences, and utility lines. When felling isn't safe, we remove section by section using rigging.
What happens to the wood after removal?
We chip and haul all debris. Want to keep logs for firewood? Just let Tyler know — we'll section them for you.
Do you remove the stump too?
Stump grinding is a separate service but can be bundled with removal for a better price. Ask Tyler when you call.
Is TG-TreeCare insured?
Yes — full general liability insurance. We'll provide a certificate before work begins. Never hire a tree crew that can't.
